Poked and Prodded

Went to the doctor’s yesterday afternoon. Yes, yet another appoinment. This time for me. I’m on my last pack of BC pills, so had to go in for my annual pap and to get another perscription for more pills.
So anyway, got checked out by the nurse and the doctor. The doctor said everything seems fine until she started pushing on my uterus. She kept asking me if it hurt in certain spots where she was putting pressure. No, it didn’t hurt, was what I kept telling her. She asked if there was a history of cervical cancer or fibroids in the family. Well, to my knowledge, there isn’t. She said my uterus is tilted back…which I was told with my previous pregnancy…that’s nothing new. But she told me she felt a “mass of something”. Could very well just be an ovary that floated forward. And it doesn’t feel like it’s on my uterus itself. But, she wants to have it checked out to be on the safe side. So I get to have an ultrasound done. Fun, fun. I’ve had 3 pregnancies (the 2nd ended in a miscarriage), so I’ve done the whole ultrasound thing. But I get to have 2 done…the pelvic (which is the one they do on the outside on your stomach) and a trans-vaginal (you can only guess where that one is).
It still has to be scheduled…I keep calling to schedule, and keep getting an answering machine…and no one has called me back yet. Aren’t hospitals great?

Monday Madness

Springtime brought to you by Monday Madness

1. What season are you in right now?
Spring

2. Do you celebrate anything special this time of year?
Beltane

3. Name 3 things that come to mind when you think of spring (or your current season)?
warmer days
nature in bloom
time to get out the shorts and t-shirts

4. In the current season, about how many hours of the day are daylight hours?
I’d say about 14-15 hours

5. Do you do any ’spring cleaning?’
yes, actually just did some spring cleaning this past weekend (well, hubby did…amazingly)

6. Do you wash your own car or take it to the car wash?
car wash since we live in an apartment

7. Do you hang your laundry out on a clothesline on nice days?
nope…again, we live in an apartment, so can’t do that…but I would if I could.

Meditation…(Finally)

It has been so long since I’ve done a meditation, and boy, was ever in need of one. Since hubby’s been home on workman’s comp it’s been hard to find time to myself between him and the boys. Last night, I finally got some.
The reason why I’ve needed a mediation so bad? Well, one…it’s been forever since I’ve done it (need to start doing it every day…or at least a few times a week) and I’ve also been reading and posting quite a bit as of late on a religious message board. The message board is supposed to be about the tv show, Revelations…which I have been watching. (Can’t not watch Bill Pullman!) Of course, the message board is mostly a religious debate, no one really talking about the show at all. But anyway, I’m strong in my beliefs, and love to try to teach others about them, if they want to learn. So I’ve just been going back and forth with reading and sometimes posting when I feel the need. My mind has been overloaded by it lately, and I haven’t slept well the past few nights.

So, last night (I should say early this morning, as it was about 3am) I finally got some time alone to sit down, relax and meditate. Hubby bought me a diskman a couple weeks ago, so I can listen to soothing music…so I popped in my Fairy In The Woods disk, set my alter in front of the couch, set up a white candle and Greentea incense, turned off the lights, and sat down.
I stared at the candle for a bit, realized that the music wasn’t right and skipped to the next song. Ahhh…much better. My eyes slipped shut and there I was, walking in the moonlight through a garden of flowers and trees. Little lights flickered past me….faeries! I kept walking and ended up in my meadow from previous meditations. The big oak tree was all alight with faerie flickers. There was a table and “chairs” (all tree stumps) set up underneath the tree. I sat down and as I was watching the faeries flickering in the half-light (from the moon), I saw a pair of eyes in the woods surrounding the meadow. Instantly I thought of the God and then out He walks. Next I see the Goddess emerge. She’s got a glow about Her like moonlight. She walks over and sits down on the other stump. She smiles at me and I smile back. My heart starts to feel lighter already. We talk, mostly about the message board stuff (seems funny, but that has been at the forefront of my thoughts lately.) She’s very understanding and reassuring. Then She reaches out Her hand and covers both of mine (which are clasped together, resting on the stump table). I feel a tingling and warmth surge through me. It is an awesome feeling. My heart speeds up as the energy She sends washes through me. She then withdraws Her hand, and as the energy dissapates, my heart slows back down and my breathing becomes regular once more. She stands, saying She must go now. I stand and smile as the God links Her arm in his and They walk together back into the forest. The faerie lights are still flickering, but there are less of them now. I realize it is time for bed. I slowly come back from my meditation…and I feel so much better!
I sat staring at the candle for a bit longer, in awe of my first real meeting and conversation with the Goddess. Then I cleaned up and went to bed…and I slept really well.

Religion and Politics?

It may seem like Sen. Bill Frist has found religion in recent weeks. At least, that’s what critics say about the Senate majority leader’s recent alignment with social conservative groups on high-profile issues.
Their charge is that Frist is playing to religious groups to gather support for political issues — and potentially for a future presidential race.

Gaddy said he is concerned about “the transition from religion as a source of values and wisdom, to religion as a strategy for passing legislation or winning an election.”
“I don’t judge people’s motives,” he said. “If Sen. Frist sees this as an essential step in launching a presidential campaign, he’s more involved in a stumble than a step.”

My 2¢? Religion should stay completly seperate from politics. Things just get too screwed up when you mix the two.

What I Did Today

These last two weeks have been full of doctors! Today I had an appoinment with an optometrist to get my eyes checked (last went in oh, about 5 years ago) and to get new frames. I’m so tired of the frames I have. Compared to what’s out now-a-days, mine are so big! Although they were one of the smaller sizes when I got them 5 years ago. So anyway, I went in this morning, filled out some paperwork and then got my eyes checked out. Good news - my eyes aren’t much worse than when I last went in! I then picked out a nice pair of frames….much smaller than the ones I’m currently wearing. Now I have to wait two weeks for them to come in. It’ll be so nice when I can wear the smaller glasses!

Haven’t done much else today. It’s kind of been one of those days where I had to get up early (for my appointment) and then I’m kind of tired and don’t get much accomplished the rest of the day. I watched Revelations last night and found the message board on the NBC site. I’ve just been kicking back reading (and doing a bit of posting) at that board. And having quite a good laugh, too! Some of the posts, actually most of them, are so close-minded I find it funny. Sure, I believe everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, and I don’t push my beliefs on others. However, I do try to educate people with what knowledge I have obtained in my religious/spiritual studies. Things are not so cut and dry as some Bible pushers may think. It’s just funny that some people don’t listen to reason and logic and only quote Bible scriptures. You ask a question, out come the scriptures to why that is. Apparently to some, no religious/spiritual question can be asked without having a Biblical answer. The real funny thing….I don’t believe in the Bible. :D So all their scriptures do me no good and do not answer any of my questions. They go round and round, always avoiding answering with a real answer. And then they call themselves educated, when they know nothing outside of one supposedly holy book! It’s just hilarious!
Oh yeah….and did you know I’m going to a hell I don’t believe in cuz I don’t believe the way these certain “Christians” believe?? Yep, it’s true! There’s not a lot of room….as most of us humans here on earth are going to hell for some reason, so if you wanna join me, pack your bags and I’ll see ya there! ;)

To The Doctor’s We Go (again)

‘K’ had his 3 year check-up this morning. He was very eager to go when I told him we were going to the doctor’s….then once we got there and were called back (he liked the waiting room…there were toys), he decided he’d had enough and kept saying he wanted to go home!
He got weighed and measured (he’s still on the small side, so now we have weekly check-ups to make sure he’s gaining enough….and if not, we may have to see a specialist). We told the doctor about ‘K’s wheezing, and while he listened through the stethoscope to ‘K’ breathe, he said he sounded wheezy. So the nurse came in and measured ‘K’s oxygen level. It was a bit low, so they gave him a breathing treatment (he had to breathe a liquid-turned-to-vapor mist for a few minutes). Then she measured his oxygen levels again, and they were higher, where they should be. The doctor then gave us a week’s worth of the liquid breathing solution that we have to give ‘K’ every morning and every night….same thing as ‘G’ has, only ‘G’ has an inhaler…’K’ has the liquid form that goes in the nebulizer machine.
Everything else is fine. The doctor finished checking ‘K’ over and he’s doing alright. The two things we have to watch over are his weight and his breathing (which could have something to do with his weight being so low).
‘K’ got a lollipop and a book to take home. He liked the book, but liked the lollipop more. :) We get to go back next week for a follow-up….fun, fun. Oh, and possibly ‘K’s next immunization, if he’s feeling better and not wheezing. He couldn’t have the shot today because of his breathing.

And ‘G’s sick today…been sick since last night (coughing, complaining, whining, coughing, throwing up, ect ect.) so he didn’t go to school today. Last week he stayed home part of the week because of a rash….which is gone now, thanks to the steroid cream the doctor prescribed. When you have kids, it’s always something!

Happy Birthday ‘K’!!

Three years ago today, my little munchkin ‘K’ was born. He entered the world a little differently than most…showing off his little tush, first. Yes, he was a breech baby….what is called “frank breech”, when the bottom is pointing down, rather than the feet (true breech) or head (natural). I delivered him naturally, without having a cesarean. He had the cord slightly wrapped around his neck, but was (and is) perfectly healthy. He was born full term, 3 days before his due date. The whole thing, labor and delivery, was just under 4 hours.
‘K’s Birth Story

Aries the Ram Ruled by Mars
A Masculine Positive Cardinal Fire sign
Polar or Opposite sign: Libra
Colour - Shades of Red

Aries is the first sign of the Zodiac, lasting from March 21 - April 20. Aries represents springtime, the burgeoning of new life and a great upsurge of energy and optimism. Aries is ruled by the planet Mars and this gives the sign its adventurous spirit. Blessed with abundant energy and drive, Arians have no time for laziness and make excellent motivators, whether at work or at home. Negative Arian characteristics arise out of their driven nature. They are childishly egocentric, extremely demanding and liable to throw tantrums if denied their own way.
Physical Appearance:
They tend to be angular, slim people in early life, although they may fill out later. Rarely graceful, they seem awkward and ill at ease in their bodies, with particularly sharp elbows and knees.

Monday Madness

Monday Madness: Let’s Go Digital!

From the time you get up in the morning until the time you go to bed at night, how many different digital/electronic devices do you use on any given day? Please consider listing them, as it would be interesting to see what everyone comes up with!
Let’s see…..
1. alarm clock
2. computer
3. tv
4. dvd player
5. vcr
6. stereo
7. microwave

…and an optional random question, because I just cleaned my mouse…
How often do you clean your mouse?

My mouse is laser mouse, so it doesn’t need cleaning in the way a roller mouse does. But because we have a rabbit, the hair seems to be attracted the little laser on the mouse…so once it a while (when I noticed the arrow on screen jumping a bit and not running as smoothly) I have to blow into the little hole where the laser is, to clear it of rabbit hair.

Playtime at the Park

Got to get out of the apartment and have a bit of fun yesterday. My sis-in-law, Crystal, came down for the weekend for ‘K’s birthday party (he turns 3 on Monday) and to babysit her friend’s 2 year old. Well, we had to post-pone the party til next weekend because workman’s comp screwed up and we didn’t get a check on Thursday….no money=no party. :( ‘J’s working again (as of last Tuesday), but we still should have gotten one more check. ‘J’ straightened it out and we will be getting the last check…but we won’t receive it til Wednesday.
Anyway…even though ‘K’ didn’t get a party this weekend, Crystal came by and we took the kids (’K', her little boy, and the little girl she was babysitting) first out for ice cream and then to the little park where we’re planning to have the party. It’s small and has a fenced in jungle-gym for preschoolers (ages 2-5). ‘K’ and ‘K’ (Crystal’s boy…lol…same beginning letter of his first name as my son) love that place and along with the little girl we were watching, they all had a great time. :) It was nice to get out into the spring air.
After watching the kids play for a while, we decided to head back to the home of Crystal’s friend whom she’s babysitting for. We hung out there for a little while and let the kids run around and lose some of their energy. They all did really well playing together, considering they’re all around the same age.
Later, Crystal took ‘K’ and I back to the apartment, and we’ve been relaxing….just the 2 of us. (’G’s spending the night at grandma’s and ‘J’ is at his friend’s for….ummm, who knows how long….lol. He may be back soon or may end up staying the night.)
Here’s hoping today’s as nice! :)
