We have a new member of our family! Her name is Cheyenne! She’s about 14 months old, weighs about 45 lbs. and has one brown and one blue eye. We drove all the way down to Bakersfield to adopt her yesterday…about an 8 hour drive one way…and drove back that same day.

Yes, she’s a Siberian Husky! Isn’t she beautiful? I just adore her! She’s great with the boys and is doing ok with the birds…we just keep them gated in another part of the house. The rabbit we’re keeping in a bedroom for now. The birds don’t seem to mind Cheyenne, but I know the rabbit would just about have a heart attack.
Being brought up in southern California, Cheyenne had her first romp through the snow up here in Northern California. She loves it! The cold doesn’t seem to bother her…though we don’t leave her out in it for too long, since she isn’t used to it.
Known for being good jumpers, Siberian Huskies are suppsed to be leashed or on a line at all times. We have an areal dog line running the length of the backyard with an 8 foot leash. Gives her plenty of room, but deters her from any escape artist acts when no one’s around to watch her.
Anyway, she’s an adorable and fun addition to our family.

As I sit here, watching a log burn in the woodstove to my right, I think how glad I am…to finally be out of my apartment and into a house! We got moved this past weekend…after my sis-in-law and I spent about 10 hours cleaning the place on Saturday. It looks really nice now. We got all our stuff moved in yesterday and have been organizing today. ‘J’ got the entertainment center and computer desk set up and we got our DSL hooked up today. I got the boys room and the kitchen completely done, and the bathroom almost done. Now it’s just the rest of my junk I need to find space for….lol. I am so happy to be out of that apartment. Even with so much to do I can breathe a sigh of relief just to be out of there and into a house.

Came up to my sis-in-law’s house this weekend to babysit her 3 year old while she and her husband went out of town for a romantic weekend. We also came up to look at a house, which we were told by my sis-in-law is nice. We were excited to see the house, which is nice, and after talking to the ladies renting it, thought there was a good chance we’d get it…until they told us there was 2 other people interested in it, and they had to decide who to give it to. We lost hope a bit because we didn’t know how well we fared aginst these other 2. I started looking for other prospective rentals online and ‘J’ called a few. A bit later we got a phone call from one of the ladies renting the house we wanted…and they chose us! So we have a house now! Woohoo! On Monday we go back to the apartment…and we’re gonna put in our 30-day notice and start packing. Our plan is to be out of the apartment by next Monday. I’m so excited! We’ve been living in the apartment for 8 and a half years and I so want a house…and now we’re finally getting into one! It’s gonna be a busy couple of weeks as we pack, move, and unpack…but I can’t wait.
