Group Change

In my post before last I advertised a group I was in. Since then, there have been some changes and one member (the one who thinks she started it) had a falling out with the rest of us. Needless to say, she is no longer with us and we decided to change the name and mission of the group. The new group is BackWoods Investigations in which we research the paranormal. The group is just us friends, but the forum is open to anyone who has an interest in the paranormal, after free registration.

Oh, and I also forgot to post about our puppy. He came home on Monday and is doing much better. He’s on a special diet of food and medication for a week, but otherwise, he’s all better. Yay!

Puppy Woes

We’ve been looking for a playmate/companion for Cheyenne (another husky) and we were about to get one from a guy in the Bay area when ‘J’ found a husky pup at the local animal shelter when he went in to register Cheyenne. This little guy is only about 6 months old and is adorable! We figured he didn’t have any of his shots, so as soon as we got home, I called a vet to schedual an appointment.

In the meantime, the pup (whom we named Dakoda) and Cheyenne got to know each other and played almost mercilessly the whole day! We noticed Dakoda had some loose teeth and realized that he was loosing his puppy teeth and growing in his adult set.

So, got the appointment all set up with the vet for the next day. Dakoda was eating, drinking, and playing like normal. All he had was a bit of diarreha, but we thought that could be due to the stress of adoption. Wrong!

That night, he started vomiting. I noticed he wouldn’t really drink too much. I still thought this could be due to the adoption. Once I woke up in the morning, I realized he wouldn’t really play too much with Cheyenne or with us. And he wasn’t eating or drinking. Parvo was the one thing that I kept coming back to that he has all the symptoms for. When ‘J’ tried to get Dakoda to drink some water and he ended up vomiting it up, too, it was time to up the time for the vet appointment.

‘J’ took Dakoda while I stayed home with Cheyenne and the boys. Turns out, he tested positive for a mild case of Parvo. No vaccinations today….just treatment for this deadly doggy illness. Dakoda was admitted to the vet hospital and will remain there through Sunday. Hopefully he’ll get better by Monday and we can take him home. Just one day here and everyone fell in love with him. :)

Please help me send positive healing energy toward Dakoda, so he fights off this disese fast and recoveres just as quickly.

Spirits of the Sierras - new group

I have been getting behind on my posting…I know. And my sig tag making, too. I apologize to those who still need tags made.

I have been spending a lot of my time making a web site for a group some friends and I started…a ghost hunting group. We’re all interested in the paranormal and one member has a sister who does ghost hunting in the southern US. So, we decided to start our own group for here in the sierras of northern California. We’re looking for those who share this interest in the region to join us. Have a look at our site here: http://spiritsofthesierras.ravenmoondesigns.com/.

Stuff…

Well, I logged on to delete some comment spam…so I figured I may as well post while I’m here.

Let’s see…we’ve pretty much been snowed in…lol. We have close to 3 feet of snow…it’s so cool! I didn’t take Cheyenne for a walk yesterday, so she was aching to go today…whining and barking to go out. So I dressed warm and out we went. There’s forest all around us, so we walked down the road a bit, then veered off into the woods, following the snowmobile trails (had to, the trails are packed down…the snow is too deep to walk through without snowpants on). It was snowing…and the forest was quiet…it was so peaceful. I love it up here!

I’ve been working on a few signature tags using Poser that I have for purchase on my site. I’ll be getting more up soon. Have a look here: http://purchaseware.ravenmoondesigns.com/sigtags.htm.

Other than that, I’ve been getting back into playing EverQuest. I took quite a long break from it…a few months…and I’ve justed gotten interested in it again…lol.

This Sickens Me

Hold onto your hats boys and girls…we’re going back to the days of back-alley abortions. South Dakota governor, Mike Rounds just signed an aborion ban into law. I am all for a child living to see the light of day…but a line has to be drawn…and Roe vs. Wade was it. To overthrow it spells disaster.

PIERRE, S.D. - Gov. Mike Rounds signed legislation Monday banning nearly all abortions in South Dakota, setting up a court fight aimed at challenging the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion.

The bill would make it a crime for doctors to perform an abortion unless the procedure was necessary to save the woman’s life. It would make no exception for cases of rape or incest.

Planned Parenthood, which operates the state’s only abortion clinic, in Sioux Falls, has pledged to challenge the measure.

Rounds issued a written statement saying he expects the law will be tied up in court for years and will not take effect unless the U.S. Supreme Court upholds it.

“In the history of the world, the true test of a civilization is how well people treat the most vulnerable and most helpless in their society. The sponsors and supporters of this bill believe that abortion is wrong because unborn children are the most vulnerable and most helpless persons in our society. I agree with them,” Rounds said in the statement.

The governor declined all media requests for interviews Monday.

Snow Day

Yeah I know…I haven’t been posting lately. Blame my hubby for that one. He’s been hogging the computer.

Anyway…almost done unpacking. Just got a few boxes of things with nowhere to put them just yet (box of clothes without hangers, box with dolls without tables to put them on, ect.).
Cheyenne (our husky) has adjusted well. The boys love her and she loves to play with them…and ‘J’ and me…lol. She is such a playful dog. :) She loves bounding in the snow, which is quite a change for her from southern California…but she’s obviously breed for it, as she shows when she runs and leaps through it.
And speaking of snow…we have about 8 inches or so…with more to come soon! I’m loving this, as we never got snow where we used to live. We were in the foothills, whereas now we’re actually in the Sierra Nevadas. It’s awesome! :D

Today the boys and I (and Cheyenne) took a walk to the park to play in the snow. The park is only a couple blocks away, and so makes for a nice walk. We were the only ones there and just about the only ones who had been there since the snow started piling up. We got to run around in pristine untouched snow! The boys slid down the snow-covered slides and ‘K’ got to do his favorite thing…swing. I ran around a bit with Cheyenne, but she proves to be a very fast runner and I couldn’t keep up. The snow everywhere is just beautiful!
