Girl’s Night Out

I’ve been away from home (and my computer) for the past few days, so I haven’t had the chance to blog about my fun time Thursday and Friday. So, here goes!

Both my sis-in-law and I needed a break from the boys…they were driving us nuts! So we got our hubbies to watch them and we took a trip to Reno for a night!

We left Thursday afternoon, stopping in town to pick up some new shoes. Then it was an hour and a half of driving to Reno. We had no reservation (as we had made one for Friday night, but cancelled it and were waiting for the hold to be released off our funds), but being a Thursday, we figured we’d be able to find a room. After finding out the rates at Eldorado (while trying to get show tickets with the room…but they weren’t offering that deal), we went over to Silver Legacy…and decided to stay there since they were much cheaper!

While walking back through the casino to get our bag from the car, we saw the tail end of a fight going down in the Silver Legacy buffet. What looked like a 40-something guy either hit or shoved a much older man (he looked like he was in his 70’s or so). Only there for 20 minutes and we’re already seeing some action! 8O

Anyway…we get the bag, get to our room…and decide it’s dinner time…being that’s it’s about 7ish now. So we go to the Eldorado buffet…and basically stuff ourselves…lol. The food there is great!

After dinner, we went window shopping. We looked in all the little shops throughout the casino. And we got tattoos! Ok, so they weren’t real…they were airbrushed on. I got a triquetra on the back of my neck, while my sis-in-law got a little turtle on her side. But now we’re both debating on getting the real thing…cuz those fake ones looked pretty neat! 8)

All the shops close about 9, so we headed back up to the room, trying to think of what else we could do. Yes, I know we were in a casino…but neither one of us really like to gamble, nor do we just have money to blow on machines that give you nothing back 3/4 of the time. So we went back to the room and looked through the phone book for movie theaters. We found them…problem was, the last showings were around 9:30. It was too late for us to see a movie. So we looked for night clubs in the phone book…and either we didn’t know where they were…or they sounded so seedy that we weren’t going to them.

Well, we weren’t gonna stay in the room all night…so back down to the casino we went…figuring we could probably find an interesing club there. First we walked to the Babinga (I think it was called), but there were a lot of rules for that one…so we skipped it. We’re the casual sort…at least we were that night…lol. So off we went…in search of a place to hang out. The Brews Brothers had some pretty loud rock music going on, so we went in there. There was a live band playing 70’s-90’s rock…the stuff we like…so we stayed to listen. We ordered a drink and rocked out from our seats. My sis-in-law told me there were two guys staring at us…and eventually one came over and asked if we were single. Ummm…no…sorry dude.  After our second drink, we had another guy come up to us…this one much older…asking about the band. Well, that apparently was a ploy to get talking to us…cuz he wouldn’t leave us alone, even after we told him we’re married. He was kinda creepy and I got an odd feeling about him. We left not too long after that. It was about 1am. We walked around the casino a bit more…looking for another bar/club. The only other one we found was a little too young for our tatses…so we decided to call it night…for the bars anyway.

We decided some coffee would do us good…so we found a 24 hour cafe. After a steaming mocha and breakfast muffins, we headed back to the room.

We stayed up and talked for quite a while (you know…girl talk…lol) and we didn’t actually get to sleep til about 4am. :P

We slept in late…til about 11:40 or so. My sis-in-law did get up about 10:15 and called the front desk to see if we could stay past check-out time without paying anything more. They let us stay til 1pm. So we checked out…grabbed a couple fruit smoothies on the way out and headed to the mall. Walked around there for a couple hours, window shopping mostly, and then headed home about 4:30.

It was a fun little get-a-way…and relaxing. It was nice to get away from the hubbies and kids for a night. We decided we’re gonna have to do that more often…lol.
