Left Behind:Eternal Forces???
There’s a new video game that’s been released recently…Left Behind: Eternal Forces. This game was apparently released about a month ago, but I just heard about it tonight while watching the news. The object? To convert as many people as you can to Christiainty. While that’s not so bad, as many Christains do that on a daily basis, what is bad is what the Christians in the game can do to the non-Christians they don’t convert…kill them with quite a bit of armed-force firepower!
Now the creator of the game states it’s a “pacifist” game, as you lose “spirit points” every time you kill someone. I’d really like to know what this guy’s definition of “pacifisim” is if he thinks blowing up a bunch of innocent non-Christians isn’t violent. And if you do happen to pull the trigger…well, that’s no biggie. You gain “spirit points” back simply by praying. Ah, the free life a Christian must lead…a life of no accountability. Kill someone? Who cares! All they gotta do is pray for forgivness and all is well…and they are free to kill again.
Is this really something we want our children to learn? That it’s ok to go out and convert the “Antichrist’s children” and kill them if they don’t succeed? That by simply praying on that murderous deed it makes everything ok? This game teaches intolerance of other beliefs at a level that no one (child or adult) should ever consider…convert or die. That campaign was used before in the past, though the battlefield was real, not digital. But does that make any difference? Should our children be brainwashed into thinking holy wars are a good thing, as long as we pray to the right person…in this case, Jesus? The obvious answer is a resounding NO. This game should be yanked off the shelves of any retailer that sells it. Problem is, it brings in money, and as our economy, not to mention our greed, thrives on the almighty dollar, the game will stay on the shelves for young minds to absorb.
Intolerence will be the death of the human race…and this video game is only helping in that death.

There has been in incredible amount of MISINFORMATION published in the media and in online blogs here and elsewhere.
Pacifist Christians and other groups are taking the game material out of context to support their own causes. There is NO “killing in the name of God” and NO “convert or die”. There are NO “negative portrayals of Muslims” and there are NO “points for killing”.

Thanks for your comment. I clicked over to the site (though had to find the controversy page - http://www.leftbehindgames.com/pages/controversy.htm - myself as the link you gave didn’t work). While reading the quotes from people praising the game, I found this gem from ArsTechnica.com - “While there are violent aspects of the game, the game makes it clear that shooting is the last resort.”
The words last resort are incredibly powerful here. Basically, if nothing else works, shoot the non-Christian. Lovely. It doesn’t matter that this game has a low level of violence. The point is that it is violent at all…it’s a game based on a belief system for crying out loud! Should we start creating Pagan games that teach little Pagan children to shoot Christians “as a last resort”??
And while looking for a demo download so I could try out the game for myself, I found this in the FAQ section:
“Are guns used by Christians against non-Christians? Why or why not?
The storyline in the game begins just after the Rapture has occurred – when all adult Christians, all infants, and many children were instantly swept home to Heaven and off the Earth by God. The remaining population – those who were left behind – are then poised to make a decision at some point. They cannot remain neutral. Their choice is to either join the AntiChrist – which is an imposturous one world government seeking peace for all of mankind, or they may join the Tribulation Force – which seeks to expose the truth and defend themselves against the forces of the AntiChrist.”
I noticed a huge dodge of the original question…it wasn’t answered at all! This answer describes the game, not answers whether guns are used against non-Christians by Christians. I’ve debated Christians enough to know a dodge when I see one.
Back to playing a demo…where can I find a one? I looked all over the site and couldn’t find one demo download. I’m sure not spending $40 to teach my kids to shoot people like myself…non-Christians, but I would like to sample the game to have that “insider’s view”.
Bottom line, any religious game that promotes the killing of others that don’t believe like they do should not be played by children. It does nothing to spread religious tolerance, but everything to spread hate.
